Is an implant right for you?
Implants need enough healthy bone and healthy gums. Smoking and some health conditions, such as uncontrolled diabetes, can affect healing, so tell us about your health at the checkup. We take an X-ray to see the bone before we say whether an implant is the right choice.
- One missing tooth, or several
- A tooth that cannot be saved
- As an alternative to a bridge or a removable denture
Who places your implant
Implants and other surgical treatment are done by a specialist surgeon who visits our clinics. You can have your implant at any of our branches: we book you in on the surgeon's day.
Implant or bridge?
A bridge needs the teeth on either side to be shaped to hold it. An implant stands on its own. Both are good treatments; which one suits you depends on your bone, your gums and the teeth next to the gap, and we explain both at the checkup.
How it works at our clinic
Checkup and X-ray
We look at the gap, the bone and your general health.
Placing the implant
The implant is placed in the bone under local anaesthetic.
Healing
The implant is left to join with the bone. This takes time, and we tell you how long for your case.
The crown
A crown is fixed on top of the implant and your bite is checked.
Cost
The cost depends on your teeth and the treatment you need. After the checkup you get a plan with the exact cost, before anything is done.
Questions patients ask
How much does a dental implant cost?
It depends on the number of implants, the bone and the crown. You get the cost after the checkup and X-ray.
Does it hurt?
The area is numbed, so you feel pressure rather than pain during the procedure. Some soreness and swelling for a few days afterwards is normal.
How long does the whole treatment take?
The implant needs time to heal into the bone before the crown goes on, so it is spread over several visits. We tell you the timeline for your case.
How long do implants last?
With good cleaning and regular checkups an implant can last many years. Smoking and gum disease shorten its life.
